A Czech photographer living in the United States. He finished his studies of medicine, and began to photograph in 1909. He had also great influence on the domestic scene and significantly affected the trends of some Czech photographers. Ruzicka was a member of the American pictorialists. In 1930 he inclined towards modern photography in the spirit of sobriety and simplicity. He also experimented in the sphere of colour photography. His best photographsexhibited all over the world were taken in the period between two world wars. Recently, his significance has been rising worldwide. The most appraised photographs are those from New York City.
